Despite a ruptured Achilles tendon, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, who also heads the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a business lobbying group, attended the South Korea-Japan business chamberss meeting on Friday.
Chey announced on his social media account that he recently injured his limb while playing tennis. In spite of this, he traveled to the port city of Busan to attend the meeting, which is being conducted for the first time in six years following the 12-year resumption of shuttle diplomacy between the leaders of Korea and Japan.
Chey also intends to participate in a proposal campaign for the Busan Expo 2030 from June 19 to June 21. Jay Y. Lee, executive chairman of Samsung Electronics Co., Euisun Chung, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, and Koo Kwang-mo, chairman of LG Group, will also accompany him.
“The bilateral chamber meeting is an important event in our efforts to host Expo 2030,” said Chey.
The Bureau International Des Exposition (BIE) will hold a general meeting in Paris, France, during which the Expo 2030 candidates will deliver their fourth presentations and the 179 member nations will review their reports.
