Friday, President Dr. Arif Alvi urged Pakistan’s commercial and industrial sectors to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based solutions for problem-solving and enhancing their efficiency and productivity.
The president, speaking to a delegation from the Artificial Intelligence Education Foundation (AIEF) at Aiwan-e-Sadr, stated that exponential advances in information technology had created new opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs in fields such as health, education, business, and industry, and that Pakistan’s IT companies should adopt a global perspective in order to fully benefit from them.
The meeting was attended by the chairman of the Soliton Investment Fund, Dr. Mansoor Ali Khan, the founder and CEO of Soliton Group, Dr. Fauzia Khan, a representative of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications, and senior government officials.

He added that robust and mutually beneficial partnerships between academia and industry would aid in the achievement of significant economic and technological benchmarks.
President Alvi emphasized the importance of promoting skills-based education in Pakistan, in addition to providing youth with employable skills through online courses and associate degree programs with a shorter duration.
He stated that he had consistently urged the IT sector’s stakeholders to produce more qualified graduates, invest in emergent technologies, make swift decisions, and implement policies on time.
He stated that AI-based solutions could also facilitate the delivery of personalized education/lessons to Pakistan’s nearly 27 million out-of-school children, a task that would otherwise require an enormous amount of time.
The delegation briefed the president on the Artificial Intelligence Education Foundation (AIEF), whose mission is to promote AI-based industry solutions on a broad scale. The delegation also highlighted the numerous applications and benefits of AI in various economic sectors.
President Alvi praised the AIEF for promoting artificial intelligence in Pakistan in collaboration with local universities and urged them to expand their reach and scope of work.
