It took almost a year and a half, but Pocatello now has a brand-new establishment up for business.
Near the Pocatello Regional Airport, the Morton Buildings building was given its official start of construction in the month of December 2021.
On Tuesday, the facility that is presently operating was officially inaugurated with the cutting of a ribbon.
In the new facility, which is over 67,000 square feet in size, staff will be able to design and construct post-frame buildings that will then be distributed around the country.
The new factory will join a total of seven existing production facilities located in various states. There are now 30 people employed in the Pocatello site, but that number is likely to rise to accommodate the requirements of future expansion.
Pocatello’s Morton Buildings Now Open for Business
According to Sean Cain, President and CEO of Morton Buildings, the town has embraced the firm with open arms, which was a major factor in the decision for the company to construct here.
Cain explains that “at the beginning it was just geographic location, access to main arterial type routes to ship our products to the northwest, around the northwest United States,” and that “so that made sense for a geographic sense.”
But more importantly, the availability of the space, as well as the cooperation we had from the community in terms of aiding and enabling us to get this done on several occasions, were also huge factors.
When you travel to some locations, it feels like you practically have to engage in some type of battle to get inside. And there it was before me.
It was like having our arms openly welcomed us, and we were given support whenever we needed it to go over any kind of barrier along the way.
This year marks Morton Buildings’ 120th anniversary, and the company is celebrating in style.
