Recently, Burger King announced the closing of at least 26 Michigan stores. Popular franchisee EYM King of Michigan LLC has opted to close numerous stores in the Metro Detroit region due to “unforeseen business circumstances and inability to achieve a settlement with the fast food restaurant chain.”
Impacted eateries would close by April 15.
The EYM King of Michigan LLC began closing locations in the state of Michigan on March 17, and it is anticipated that all affected restaurants would be shuttered by April 15. The eateries in Flint, Dearborn Heights, Southfield, Royal Oak, Livonia, Warren, and Whitmore Lake are among those closing.
According to a statement published by the franchisee on March 22, the closure will effect around 424 employees. With the closing of 26 Burger King stores, all 424 employees in various roles, including General Manager, Shift Manager, and Team member, would be let off.
The closing of 26 Burger King locations in Michigan is indicative of a bigger trend for the brand.
Burger King is one of the top five largest fast food businesses in the United States, with more than 19,000 stores worldwide. The restaurant network serves over 11 million guests every day, with over 99 percent of its outlets operated by private franchisees.
Nonetheless, the worldwide pandemic and inflation are claimed to have harmed several fast food restaurants around the country, including the fast food chain. According to Business Insider, nearly 10% of all U.S. restaurant outlets were shuttered during the epidemic, with Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Subway among the most impacted businesses.
Despite recent improvements, many small restaurants have faced unexpected challenges, such as shifting sales.
As a result, several of the nation’s largest retail and restaurant chains have been compelled to reduce expenses by eliminating many sites. Hence, the following Burger King outlets are being closed by EYM King of Michigan LLC:
Despite the fact that many of the eateries have already closed, some continue to serve clients for the time being. Fans may be able to taste the whoppers at their favorite restaurant at least once before April 15, even if they are closing soon.
