Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, announced on Friday that the firm will soon start paying verified content creators for advertising that appear in their responses. The first payment block is expected to be approximately $5 million.
Musk, the entrepreneur who purchased Twitter in October of last year, stated in a tweet, “Note, the creator must be verified and only ads served to verified users count.”
Since the acquisition of Twitter by Tesla CEO Musk, the platform has had trouble retaining advertisers. These advertisers have been apprehensive about the placement of their advertising ever since the firm terminated the employment of thousands of its workers.
The change comes as Twitter prepares to hand over leadership of the social media network to its newly appointed CEO, Linda Yaccarino, a seasoned advertising professional who most recently worked for NBCUniversal.
Musk stated in March that the messaging service earns around 5 or 6 cents per hour of attention from users and that this amount might be raised to 15 cents or more with adverts that are more timely and relevant.
