GameClub was launched in 2018 with the intention of updating and bringing premium, old mobile titles to modern smartphones for a monthly charge. In 2019, the firm raised $2.5 million and discussed “increasing freemium fatigue” in the mobile gaming industry.

Eli Hodapp, a former vice president of business development at GameClub who is now at GameMill Entertainment, spoke with us at the end of 2019 about the company’s focus on high-quality titles that have already performed well and how GameClub differs from Apple Arcade.
